Tesla has nearly halved its monthly lease charges for UK drivers, according to industry sources. The discounts, up to 40%, are a response to a steep 60% drop in UK sales last month, with just 987 units sold in July. Limited local storage capacity and slow inventory turnover have prompted aggressive price reductions.

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) reported an overall decline in car registrations of about 5% year-on-year for July, though electric vehicles are projected to account for 23.8% of new registrations in 2025. Tesla has yet to comment formally. Industry observers point to intensifying competition, changing consumer sentiment, and logistical challenges in the UK EV market.
